I don't even know where to start! So much has happened since I last blogged. Fair warning, this entry may be riddled with grammatical errors, misspelled words, and sentence fragments due to lack of sleep and excitement. Also, you are about to be bombarded with photos, Michael has also sent out a link that has a link to our photos. We welcomed our new little boy in to the world on January 11th at 1:02pm and our world has been changed forever!!
I was scheduled for an induction on Friday, January 11th, due to my blood pressure being high since the end of December. When I had gone to the doctor during the first week of January the doctor told me I was already 3-4 cm and he might come on his own, she said she wanted me to get as close to 37 weeks as possible so she wouldn't induce before January 11th. I went to the doctor on January 7th for a routine check up and I was 5 cm, but I wasn't really feeling any pain just pressure. I went to the doctor again in January 10th and was 6 cm, but still wasn't in any pain. The doctor decided I would go to the hospital the next day to be induced since I was still having high blood pressure readings and there was a risk of infection due to me being dilated for over a week.
We arrived at the hospital a little before 6 am on January 11th. I was ready to have a baby and had all of those nervous and excited feelings. Michael and my Mom were with me so I had great support from the beginning. Michael's parents and Meredith got to the hospital probably about 7 am to wait for the baby to arrive. When I got to the hospital they started my IV and gave me fluid to prepare for my epidural. The IV probably started at around 6:30 am. The nurse checked me probably a little before 7 am and I was 7 cm already, still not having any pain really, just pressure. The doctor came in around 8 am and broke my water and I think they gave me pitocin at that point as well. I got my epidural around 9 am and then I was totally relaxed. I was able to say a rosary and take a nap. I rested because all I could really feel was pressure, but not any pain. The pressure started getting pretty regular around 11:30 am. I started pushing around 12:30 pm and William Thomas Tribble was born at 1:02 pm! He weighed 8 pounds 6 ounces and was 20.5 inches long.
We decided we are going to call him Liam for short (he just doesn't look like a Will to us). Liam is the the Irish shortened version of William which works out because I am German/Irish. William Thomas' name is very special to us because he is named after his Father and both of his Grandfathers. William is Michael's Dad's name and Michael's first name, and Thomas is my Father's middle name. I was also excited to know that January 11th is the feast day of Blessed William Carter. I feel like his name is perfect!
I wanted to get the birth story typed up so I wouldn't forget too much! Below are some pictures from the hospital. More info and pictures to come!
