William Thomas Tribble Arrives

I don't even know where to start! So much has happened since I last blogged. Fair warning, this entry  may be riddled with grammatical errors, misspelled words, and sentence fragments due to lack of sleep and excitement. Also, you are about to be bombarded with photos, Michael has also sent out a link that has a link to our photos. We welcomed our new little boy in to the world on January 11th at 1:02pm and our world has been changed forever!!

I was scheduled for an induction on Friday, January 11th, due to my blood pressure being high since the end of December. When I had gone to the doctor during the first week of January the doctor told me I was already 3-4 cm and he might come on his own, she said she wanted me to get as close to 37 weeks as possible so she wouldn't induce before January 11th. I went to the doctor on January 7th for a routine check up and I was 5 cm, but I wasn't really feeling any pain just pressure. I went to the doctor again in January 10th and was 6 cm, but still wasn't in any pain. The doctor decided I would go to the hospital the next day to be induced since I was still having high blood pressure readings and there was a risk of infection due to me being dilated for over a week.

We arrived at the hospital a little before 6 am on January 11th.  I was ready to have a baby and had all of those nervous and excited feelings. Michael and my Mom were with me so I had great support from the beginning. Michael's parents and Meredith got to the hospital probably about 7 am to wait for the baby to arrive. When I got to the hospital they started my IV and gave me fluid to prepare for my epidural.  The IV probably started at around 6:30 am. The nurse checked me probably a little before 7 am and I was 7 cm already, still not having any pain really, just pressure. The doctor came in around 8 am and broke my water and I think they gave me pitocin at that point as well. I got my epidural around 9 am and then I was totally relaxed.  I was able to say a rosary and take a nap. I rested because all I could really feel was pressure, but not any pain. The pressure started getting pretty regular around 11:30 am. I started pushing around 12:30 pm and William Thomas Tribble was born at 1:02 pm! He weighed 8 pounds 6 ounces and was 20.5 inches long.

We decided we are going to call him Liam for short (he just doesn't look like a Will to us). Liam is the the Irish shortened version of William which works out because I am German/Irish.  William Thomas' name is very special to us because he is named after his Father and both of his Grandfathers. William is Michael's Dad's name and Michael's first name, and Thomas is my Father's middle name. I was also excited to know that January 11th is the feast day of Blessed William Carter. I feel like his name is perfect!

I wanted to get the birth story typed up so I wouldn't forget too much! Below are some pictures from the hospital. More info and pictures to come!

Bed Rest and Baby Update

Well my bed rest will officially be over tomorrow! I am going to the hospital tomorrow morning to be induced so the baby should be here sometime tomorrow. I have officially been on bed rest since December 19th due to blood pressure issues. My body also started the labor process last week so the doctor was trying to give the baby another week to develop to get him to 37 weeks (he will be 37 weeks tomorrow). Last week I was 3-4 cm, on Monday I was 5 cm, and today I was 6 cm. The doctor says she doesn't know how my water has not broken yet because the baby's head is so low. I have been having contractions, but nothing that has been that painful. She thinks it will be best for baby to come tomorrow because of my blood pressure--she says blood pressure issues can get out of control fast and she doesn't want that to happen.

I just pray that the baby has gotten big enough and strong enough, but I know the doctor wouldn't schedule the induction if she thought there would be risk to the baby. I am so excited to meet our little man!!!

Below are some pictures from my bed resting days. I watched a lot of TV (especially football--it was convenient that it was bowl season), read baby books, ate, and slept! The weeks went surprisingly fast and I had a lot of visitors to keep me company. Gus was always willing to hang out as well :) Thanks to all of my family and friends who have helped me while I have had to rest! A special thanks to my husband who has done SO MUCH to help us prepare for Baby T!

Hornsteins Come to Town...

Jackie and Harper came to Knoxville the day after Christmas to visit and help get the house ready for baby since I am not very mobile these days. I was able to give Harper her Christmas presents, and they brought presents from family in Louisville for us to open! Jackie washed all of my baby things and helped prepare the nursery for Baby T's arrival. She cleaned, cooked, and assembled many baby products. Jackie and Michael also put away all of our Christmas decorations. It was so nice to have her here to help and Harper is always entertaining. I had a ball playing toys with Harper on the couch, and she was constantly checking on me and baby. "Hey Maegan, how's your baby?" She gave me many check-ups while she was visiting--it was like having an in house nurse! Harper also helped quite a bit, you will see from the pictures below that she swept the floor and helped bake me a cake with sprinkles!

Thank you, thank you, thank you Jackie and Harper!

P.S. Michael is also helping out SOOO MUCH and has basically reorganized our entire house. He cleans, cooks, and does laundry--I am one lucky lady. I think we are ready for baby!

Knoxville Baby Shower

This post is a little out of order I know, but I wanted to thank my sister-in-law Meredith and my friend Kate for hosting a great baby shower for me on December 8th! The food was wonderful and it was great to get together with family and friends. Baby T got some really great things at the shower.  We cannot wait for him to get here! Below are pictures of the spread at the shower. Thanks so much to Meredith and Kate for a great time!

The food was so good!
