A Change of Plans at Christmas

The month of December has been a busy one! There is always so much to do when you are getting ready for the holiday and wrapping up work for the year. We were planning to go to Louisville for Christmas break, but my doctor decided that I should not travel so far from home. I went for a doctor's appointment on December 19th and was diagnosed with gestational hypertension. While at the doctor they did a non-stress test to monitor the baby's movement and his heart rate to make sure he was ok, and he passed the test. I also had an ultrasound and it showed everything looked good--Tribblet's measuring 5 pounds 7 ounces. From here until I have the baby I will be going to the doctor twice a week to get my blood pressure checked and to get an ultrasound and non-stress test. I was also put on medicine and bed rest to try to keep my blood pressure down.

We were able to spend Christmas Day at Michael's parents' house, I just had to stay on the couch for most of the day :) It was a nice relaxing day, and of course the food was fabulous!

I had another appointment on December 26th and my blood pressure was still high. I had a non-stress test and ultrasound at this appointment too and everything still looks good with the baby. I was put on more strict bed rest and may have to increase my medicine if my blood pressure stays elevated. The doctor told me that their goal is to get baby to 38 weeks and if he hasn't come yet then they will induce. Looks like we are going to have a January baby!!

Thanksgiving and Such

I need to catch up on blogging a bit before our new little addition arrives! I think he will be joining us earlier than expected--more on that later.

Thanksgiving was a fun week. My parents came in town for the holiday and they helped me do some house prep for the baby. My Mom was able to go to my doctor's appointment with me the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and hear the baby's heartbeat. Wednesday night I started feeling crummy, but thought if I got a good night's sleep I would feel better. No such luck. I ended up being sick the entire Thanksgiving break. My Mom and I were still able to do some closet organization and Christmas shopping though! We also got Gus a new Christmas toy while we were out (see photo below).  Meredith hosted an awesome Thanksgiving at her house and it was so nice to visit with family. Michael and Dad went to the UT/UK football game over the weekend, Mom and I decided not to go since I wasn't feeling well.  Dad said they had great seats! Even though I didn't feel that well it was nice to hava a break from work to sleep and get the house a little more organized.

My pregnancy during November was pretty uneventful, my little guy just kept growing and growing! I was also able to work out which was nice. I have a belly picture below so you can see how much bigger he has gotten!

Gus really liked Dad and was happy he came to visit for Thanksgiving!
